About
Us
Greene County Children Services Board (GCCSB) is the county agency designated by law to provide for the care, protection, and placement of abused, neglected, and dependent children in Greene County. The goal of the agency is to preserve and strengthen family
life and to help children at risk of abuse, neglect or dependency be safe
within their own family.
If a parent is unable or unwilling to
provide adequate care for a child, temporary separation from the home may
be necessary. Separation from family has a traumatic impact on a child.
Separation occurs only when children cannot be protected or have their
needs met within the family. The agency will then assist the family in
making the necessary changes so the child can return home as soon as
possible. Services are provided to the family to help break the cycle of
child abuse and neglect.
Ohio law requires some individuals to
report concerns of child abuse, neglect, and dependency to Greene County
Children Services Board. These individuals include but are not limited to:
attorneys, medical/health care professionals, and school/day care
personnel.
Anyone who knows or suspects that a
child has been or is at risk of being abused, neglected or dependent
should make a report to the agency.
Greene County Children
Services is a proud member of the Child Welfare League of America and the
Public Children Services Association of Ohio. Both are organizations that
symbolize service excellence, just as GCCSB attempts to do on a daily
basis.
